The capital of Portugal, Lisbon is full of surprises. Its authentic charm attracts tourists from all over the world! Indeed, the city offers a unique palette of colors, sometimes composed of yellow, red or orange. One of its architectural icons is the Estação do Oriente station, designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava. People who know the area will praise the Chiado and Bairro Alto neighborhoods, which have a soft bohemian atmosphere. In terms of nature, Lisbon is notable for its blue waters and hilly paths. Known as the city of seven hills, Lisbon has everything to please and there is no shortage of challenges for cyclists who dare to venture out onto its warm and lively streets.

Lisbon's network of cycle paths has been growing strongly for several years. By 2021, the Portuguese capital had 95 kilometers of cycle paths!

In order to reinforce this strong cycling policy, the municipality of Lisbon is working on the development of its bike sharing system, Gira, managed by the parking company Emel. The system currently has 1,600 bikes for 138 stations!

Since June 2022, Emel's teams have been using Qucit Bike on a daily basis to assist them in the rebalancing operations of the Gira system.

In our next post, we will discover the bike share system in Antwerp!
