Focus on Paris, France!

Our blog posts series presents the different cities with which Qucit has partnered to offer mobility system optimization solutions. Discover how our solutions contribute to improving urban mobility in these areas!

The City of Light is entirely dedicated to promoting sustainable projects. In recent years, the administration of the French capital environmental policy has focused on eco-responsible urbanization and soft mobility. The City plans to pedestrianize four districts and become the greenest city in Europe by 2030. “Plan Vélo”, initially launched in 2018, allowed the expansion of cycling in the city, but its new version, updated in 2021, is even more ambitious. With its 1094 km of cycle paths, and the construction of 130 km of additional tracks, the objective is to make Paris a cycling paradise! This new plan involves signage giving priority to cyclists, more space dedicated to bicycles and an obligation to build bicycle storage in all new constructions in the city. But Paris has one more advantage in promoting cycling: the second largest bike share system in the world, the Vélib’!

Focus on Paris

Launched in 2007 and managed by the Smovengo consortium, the Vélib system now has 20,000 bicycles, including 8,000 electric ones, and more than 1,400 stations. Tourists and 300,000 of the system's subscribers push the number of borrowings to more than 150,000 per day. Since 2021, Qucit has been assisting Smovengo in optimizing the management of this huge system. Thus, Qucit Bike is used daily by the teams in the field for the station rebalancing and the system maintenance.

In our next post, we will discover the bike-share system in Richmond !
