Qucit Bike User integrated into the Smou application in Barcelona!

Since October 2022, UTE Pedalem, the operator of Barcelona's Bicing system, has integrated the Qucit Bike User API with B:SM's multimodal application, Smou. The objective of this integration is to allow users of the system to plan their trips by providing reliable information on the availability of bikes in the next few hours. A real improvement in the user experience!

What is Qucit Bike User?

Qucit Bike User is a predictive API that provides users of a bike-sharing system with a forecast of bike and pay station availability from 15 minutes to 12 hours in advance. In concrete terms, this is data that we make available to our clients, local authorities and public bike system operators, so that they can integrate the information into their own applications.

As an example, Qucit Bike User allows you to obtain:

  • The probability of finding one or more bikes available 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes in advance, for example.

  • The probability of finding one or more stations available 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes in advance.

What are the benefits?

Qucit Bike User truly enhances the user experience by allowing them:

  • to identify the stations that will allow them to find a bike in a few minutes;

  • to avoid the frustration of finding a full station at the end of their journey;

By encouraging the user to favor borrowing bicycles from stations with a low risk of being empty and depositing bicycles at stations with a low risk of being full, the operator can involve users in the dynamic rebalancing of the bike share system.

Today, our API is integrated in different multimodal applications such as

  • Transports Bordeaux Métropole in Bordeaux

  • Divia Mobilités in Dijon

  • Ile de France Mobilités in Paris

A good way to promote cycling as a public transport mode!

But also monomodal applications such as Vélib' in Paris and V3 in Bordeaux.

Focus on our recent partnership with our client UTE Pedalem, operator of the Barcelona bike-sharing system, Bicing.

Focus on Bicing in Barcelona

Qucit Bike User integrated into Smou!

The Bicing system, managed by UTE Pedalem, a company created by Serveo and PBSC, is Barcelona's bike-sharing system. It is composed of 520 stations and 7,000 mechanical and electric bikes. In 2022, more than 15 million trips were made by the 136,000 subscribers to the system! In total, this represents 14 million kilometers traveled by the 7,000 Bicing bikes. In order to adapt to new mobility needs and to offer a better experience to the public, UTE Pedalem has integrated the Qucit Bike User API to the multimodal application of B:SM, Smou, used every day by more than 700,000 subscribers. This will allow users to know whether the likelihood of finding a bike is high, medium or low.

The launch coincided with the fifteenth anniversary of Bicing, which was celebrated during the Bike Festival on Passeig Lluis Companys, a day that included various activities and, above all, lots of bikes.
