Pioneer Valley, in the State of Massachusetts, has for several years been one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States. Indeed, the city has many assets starting with its historical monuments, its renowned universities and its unspoiled nature. This region, located on the Connecticut River, was among the first regions in the United States to start the process of deindustrialization, which began already in 1970. Over the years, the Pioneer Valley has reinvented itself and become attractive for all those who flee the big cities and seek peace and quiet. Science and culture are major assets of this liberal and progressive region which is hosting the densest LGBT population in the United States.

Focus on Pioneer Valley

To better connect the five municipalities of the valley with strategic places - universities, hospitals and tourist points - the authorities set up in 2018 their bike share program, Valley Bike. Designed specifically for this hilly region, the system, operated by BWG Field Ops, is made up of 500 electric bikes spread over 50 stations. Bike repairs are provided by an association of war veterans, which stimulates the local economy and the professional integration of ex-soldiers. Since 2020, the operator has been collaborating with Qucit and ensuring an optimal system for its users. Our Qucit Bike app is used daily by field teams to provide rebalancing and pickup of discharged electric bikes.

In our next post, we will discover the bike-share system in Raleigh !
